2016 PDA Council Nominations–accepted through Dec. 31

2016 PDA Executive Council nominations will be accepted at this link through December 31.

Below is a note from PDA President Robert Charvat:

As we draw this year to a close, I would like to take a moment to reflect on some memorable moments and achievements. The PDA saw its inception in January, providing postdocs with an association to advocate for them and work toward enhancing the postdoc experience at IUSM. Our Bylaws became effective in March, establishing our Mission and detailing the roles for the Executive Council. The Postdoc Messenger was created by postdocs for postdocs to provide information about a variety of topics including “covering findings from a seminar, contributing insight from a professional development seminar, highlighting a current IUSM postdoc, or sharing the career path of a former IUSM postdoc.” Our contributions were celebrated during National Postdoc Appreciation Week with pizza, ice cream, donuts, and a picnic with a view from the Sky Farm. The Inaugural Postdoc Research Symposium in October was a great success, showcasing the excellent work being done by postdocs across multiple IU campuses! And all throughout the year, there have been amazing professional development events.

I would like to thank everyone that has been involved in making this first year such a triumph. In order to continue to provide these resources for postdocs in the years to follow, we need you to take an active role in the Postdoc Association. Below you will find a link for nomination for next year’s Executive Council positions. Follow the link to learn more about each position and the role each one plays as well as to indicate your interest in the positions. Self nominations will be accepted through December 31 and voting will be conducted via Survey Monkey, with the results revealed at the meeting in January 2016.

I look forward to many great things from the PDA in 2016!

Robert Charvat
